How did Vanderbilt University cover and explain different topics with animated videos?

About Vanderbilt University

Vanderbilt is a private research university in Nashville, Tennessee. It offers 70 undergraduate majors and a full range of graduate and professional degrees

The Challenge

The Vanderbilt Project on Unity & American Democracy asked us to create a short video explaining the history of the State of the Union, why it’s so important, and how it changes with the times and context of current events.

The target audience is all American voting citizens, but especially those who might find politics to be too confusing and overwhelming to understand, and wish to be more informed about politics.

The main challenge we faced was not only explaining complex topics simply and clearly; it was to present the facts in a non-partisan form and gain the trust of the viewer, in a world of ubiquitously highly polarized political news coverage.

The Solution

We helped The Vanderbilt Project on Unity & American Democracy overcome this challenge by using the power of animation, crafting a series of brief animated branded videos.

Animation has an amazing ability to explain even the most complex, dense topics at length, without boring or overwhelming the viewer with too much information.

It’s a natural storytelling medium that grabs your attention, holds on to it, and remains memorable long afterwards. And it’s perfect for breaking down and simplifying topics as complicated as politics.

To achieve the client's objectives, B2W:-

  • Used Mixed Media Animation to grab attention

  • Used simple language that can be understood easily.

Key Takeaways

1. Video animation is an effective way to connect with viewers emotionally

2. By using animation rather than a monotonous approach to portray the features of the platform, it helped the client stand out from the competition.
